Using a Utility to Push a Dashboard
Creating a Custom Dashboard Profile
Select your org, Customer Dashboard profile for class and doc type. Hit Chevron to approve
Create Custom Dashboard Profile
Title your Dashboard profile so it is recognizable to you in the future
Draft Custom Dashboard Profile
The custom dashboard section displays what link(s) you are about to push to the selected user
Approved Custom Dashboard Profile
The approved profile now shows with a unique number and revision control in case you want to resend updates at any time.
Create special action to push Dashboard
When you have approved the profile you will see to the left in the menu a Special Action option called 'Administrative Utilities'. Select this.
Title the Utility
Give the created utility a title of your choice. You will notice that this utility has brought with it, as a controlling document, the custom profile document you created at the start so it knows what dashboard(s) you want to push
Choosing recipients of your dashboard
Select the person(s) who need to receive your dashboard. Dry run is checked as default which means changes will not be made but it instead tells you if it will be a successful push or not. It is always advisable to do a dry run first.
Submit the Utility
Choose the 'submit to expediter' option. This utility is set to send to the author.
Implement utility
Check ready for implementation to push your changes. Remember though that you have selected 'Dry Run' so actual changes will not be made but will show you if what you are doing will be successful or not.
Implementing utility
Keep hitting 'Reload' until you see the document go from 'Implementing Changes' to 'Closed - Implemented'.
Dry Run changes
Within the utility document you will be able to see a summary of the changes which would have been made if Dry run had not been checked. If it had not worked properly then you may have seen a zero in the number of items changed. e.g if you forgot to enter a recipients name.
